The Almaty, Kazakhstan-based passenger and cargo airline received the winglet-equipped Boeing 737-500 (reg UP-B3708, serial 24919), a former AirBaltic aircraft, on lease on 28 February 2011. The aircraft is DETA's second passenger-configured aircraft. After launching services in January 2006 with a unique Ilyushin IL-62M fleet comprising one converted freighter, one passenger plane and one combi-configured aircraft, DETA acquired two, former Aeroflot, McDonnell Douglas DC-10-40(F) freighters in February 2009.
