Russian manufacturer Sukhoi signed a contract valued at $379.2 million, at the Paris air show late yesterday, to supply Indonesian carrier SKY Aviation with 12 Superjet 100s. The order takes firm orders for the Superjet to 182. Deliveries are scheduled to start before the end of 2011 and run through 2015. The Superjet is powered by the PowerJet SaM146 turbofan, which is rated at 14,000-17,500lb thrust (62.3 -77.8 kN). PowerJet is a joint venture between Snecma of France and Russia's NPO Saturn. SKY Aviation launched services in December 2010 and currently operates three Fokker 50s and a Cessna 208B Caravan, on a scheduled network in Sumatra, in addition to providing charter flights, primarily in support of local oil and gas exploration. Two Superjets have so far been delivered, to Armavia and Aeroflot. A possible order for eight Superjets, and four options, by Blue Panorama of Italy has also been rumoured at the Paris show.
