The Russian airline based in Salekhard in the oil-rich Yamalo-Nenets region of Siberia is about to introduce its first Airbus A320-200 (reg VQ-BNR, serial 1054) into service. The CFMI CFM56-5B4/2P powered aircraft is being leased from Aircastle. The aircraft has been awaiting delivery at Shannon since early July but was finally re-registered in Bermuda on 11 August 2011 and is imminently expected to depart to join Yamal's existing fleet which, together with a large helicopter fleet and a small number of Soviet era Tupolev jets and Antonov turboprops, also includes six Boeing 737-500s, two 737-400s and the first of two planned Bombardier CRJ200s.
