Okay, it appears that not only am I the first to start the Ultralight Aircraft Group here at Flightglobal/Airspace but I am also privileged to be the very first to start the very first Group. Thanks Flightglobal.

So how many people out there have enjoyed the wonderful experience of flying in an ultralight aircraft?

Up until recently, I had only written about these wonderful aircraft. But now however, I have had my first flight and it was brilliant (although I was quite nervous). This I would definitely do again.

I flew in an Aerochute. Some might know these as a Paraglider.

It is basically a three wheel buggy with a Rotax engine and propeller at the back of the buggy. Overhead is a bow kite which inflates as soon as the propeller fills the kite and lifts it to the overhead position.

Once the buggy has enough speed it basically pulls the chute along thereby keeping it filled with air.

We flew for fifteen minutes out near the Richmond RAAF base near Sydney, New South Wales Australia. We reached a height of 1500' before turning around and returning to the airstrip.

I would thoroughly recommend a joyflight and/or learning to become a pilot of an Aerochute. Should you want to take advantage of this offer click here on this Aerochute link.

By the way, I have no affiliation with this company at all, I'm just promoting them as a sign of appreciation for what they do.

Have fun all.

Geoff
