April 22, 1962 - This artist's concept depicts what scientists think will happen when the Saturn SA-2 upper stages filled with water are exploded at 65 miles altitude. An ice cloud is formed at the point of explosion. It may stretch some 130 miles down the Atlantic Missile Range. Scientists hope to learn much about the upper atmosphere and its effects on water masses from this experiment.
