NASA selected site No.2 on the moon for the first manned landing by Apollo 11. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin. The area is photographed by four different moon missions. Ranger VIII took this photo from an altitude of 5.1 miles. Surveyor V soft landed on the moon and sent back a photo of the surrounding area. Lunar Orbiter V photographed the site from an altitude of 59 miles. The large patterned line across the picture occurred when the film was developed aboard the spacecraft. Apollo 10 during it's orbits of the moon produced this near vertical photo of the landing area.
