A very sad sight to greet us at the RAF Museum at Cosford, Shropshire, May 2006. The destruction of ex British Airtours B707-436, G-APFJ. A section of fuselage (background) and the cockpit were salvaged and are destined for display at The Royal Scottish Museum of Flight, East Fortune.

This was a highly controversial move as it was the only Conway engined B707 in existence. It seems that, as part of the British Airways Collection, they were unwilling to take responsibility for the preservation of their own heritage. On the other hand, others argued that the only relevence of a B707 in a British museum was that started the destruction of the British aircraft industry !
