Displayed at the AeroVenture, Doncaster, is the rather dented nose of Nimrod R.1, XW666. Whilst on a post maintennce test flight out of RAF Kinloss, a catastrophic fire was caused by a starter motor exploding, forcing the crew to ditch the reconnaissance aircraft in the Murray Firth, off Kinloss, on 16 May 1995. All the crew escaped.
