Airbus A380 - Landing at Filton
The A380 landing here at Filton on wednesday evening at around 1840HRS against the backdrop of a golden brown sky. Fortunately, I was able to obtain a rather lucky vantage position next to the runway to click this picture.
It's the world's largest passenger aircraft, capable of carrying over 850 passengers in a full economy configuration! That's just massive!
This picture is special to me because of the following reasons:
1) The airfield is expected to close down around December this year. It's quite an emotional time for all those who work at Airbus in Filton. It'll soon become the only Airbus manufacturing site without an adjoining runway, I think.
2) It is very rare to capture the A380 on approach with nothing else in the screen, considering that the A380 is used at major transport hubs. Some pole or antenna or building always gets in the way.
3) I love silhouettes.
