More than 40 years of aircraft development are depicted in this photo, with various types gathered around North American P-51D Mustang c/n 122-40965 PH-PSI ("Damn Yankee") at the Aviodrome aviation museum at Lelystad airport in The Netherlands (EHLE). From right to left the other aircfraft are: Douglas DC-2-142 c/n 1404 built in 1935 and now with the official U.S. registration NC39165 but with the paint scheme of the famous Dutch KLM DC-2 PH-AJU "Uiver" ("Stork"), which came second in the great air race from London to Melbourne in October 1934, Lockheed SP-2H Neptune c/n 726-7263, which served with the Dutch Navy from 1961 to 1982, Douglas C-54A Skymaster c/n 7480, delivered to the USAF in 1943 and now with the livery of the Netherlands Government Air Transport, which was founded in 1945 to fill the gap before KLM Royal Dutch Airlines became operational again and Boeing 747-306 c/n 21549 PH-BUK, delivered to KLM in 1978 and transported to the museum by water in 2004. The photo was taken during the Military Aviation Spectacle organized by the Aviodrome at EHLE on 20 August 2011.
