Boeing 777-21B(ER) c/n 27606 N688CZ of China Southern airlines on final at Schiphol Amsterdam airport in The Netherlands (EHAM) on 8 August 2003. The aircraft complies with Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards (ETOPS), which allows it to cross the Pacific in one go, as is proudly stated on the front of the fuselage. The aircraft first flew on 26 January 1998 and was delivered to China Southern on 13 February 1998 with the registration B2062. It was reregistered with its test registration N688CZ from 7 July 1998 to 26 August 2004 and flies again as B2062 since then. All the time it was operated by China Southern.
