The aircraft first flew on November 22, 1974 and was first put into service by Swissair as HB-IHG. In January 2007 it went to ATA Airlines and in August 2008 to World Airways, which used it for spares. In 2008 Delta Airlines took over Northwest and early 2010 the trademark Northwest disappeared.
