Boeing AH-64D Apache c/n DN017 with tailnumber Q-17 of the Royal Netherlands Air Force with the 2011 livery of the Apache Solo Display fires flares during the Open Days of the Dutch Air Force on 17 September 2011 over Leeuwarden air base in The Netherlands (EHLE). The flares are fired from AMASE pods, which were also used in Afghanistan to mislead heat-seeking missiles. Apache Q-17 started its service life with the Dutch Air Force on 12 January 2001. Every two years an other Apache serves with the Solo Display team. In 2009 and 2010 Apache Q-19 was used. Q-17 will serve with the team in 2011 and 2012.
