Dutch Cougar S-440 in the hover 21092011
Eurocopter AS.532U.Mk2 Cougar c/n 2440 with tailnumber S-440 of the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) 300 squadron hovering over De Kooy Naval Air Station in The Netherlands (EHKD) on 21 September 2011. The helicopters of both the Dutch air force and navy now operate under the unified Defence Helicopter Command. Accordiing to recently anounced budget cuts, the strength of the Cougar force would be reduced from 17 to three. But since then most of the Cougars were deemed indispensible because of their size and capabilities, including firefighting. Eight will be retained. One is in storage, S-440 is still in camouflage livery and the other six were painted grey.
