Engine of Boeing CH-47D Chinook of the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) 298 squadron with tailnumber D-665 at Soesterberg AB in The Netherlands on September 12, 2002. The chopper had two nicknames, unlike its mates, who have only one: 665 was called either "Christine" or "Bigfoot", but only Bigfoot appeared on the nose for some time. It looks though as if the Dutch Air Force has abandoned the nicknames. The chopper first went to the Canadian Air Force on 18 June 1975 as a basic CH-47. It flew with 450 squadron as Ottawa AB and later with 447 squadron at Namao AB in Alberta. It left the Canadian Air Force service on 7 January 1992 and went back to the U.S., where It was converted to CH-47D standard in 1995 and got the new Boeing company number B731. It went to the Dutch Air Force on 28 december 1995 as NL005, later D-665. In the summer of 2007 it was active with the Dutch Air Task Force in Afghanistan. More images of D-665 were uploaded to this EnoAerPics gallery on 28 and 29 november 2010.
