KLM worried by Emirates Dubai Double
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is not amused by the announcement of Emirates to double the number of daily A380 Amsterdam-Dubai flights, starting 4 December 2013. Two instead of one A380 will operate the route each day. KLM faces strong competition from the Middle East airline. Earlier it had criticized Schiphol Amsterdam airport for allowing Emirates to operate the A380 into the airport because this would undermine the mainport position of KLM, now part of the Air France-KLM holding. The image shows the first A380 delivered to Emirates, Airbus A380-861 c/n 11 A6-EDA, on its way to runway 24-06 at Schiphol Amsterdam airport in The Netherlands (EHAM) on 31 July 2013 for return flight EK148 to Dubai, passing one of the KLM hangars at Schiphol. It was the third visit of A6-EDA to The Netherlands. The aircraft made its first flight on 4 September 2007 as F-WWSH and was delivered to Emirates on 29 July 2008. Th heat of the runways and engines on this warm sunny day makes the image a little blurred, even though dark clouds had gathered over Schiphol at the time the photo was taken and it started to rain just a few minutes later, right after A6-EDA had taken off.
