The aircraft, built as type P2V-7 for the French Aéronavale with French registration 144692, was taken over by the Dutch Navy from the French on 25 October 1965 and converted to the SP-2H standard. It was phased out on 11 July 1980 and first dispayed at Naval Air Station Valkenburg, but transferred to NAS De Kooy after Valkenburg was closed in July 2006. The Dutch Naval Air Service was disbanded in July 2008 at a time only helicopters served with the MLD. All Dutch air force and navy helicopters are now part of the Dutch Defence Helicopter Command (DHC). The photo was taken on 21 September 2011.
