My first opportunity to capture KLM's McDonnell Douglas MD-11P c/n 48561 (l/n 585) PH-KCG after it was prepared for the ferry flight to the US, where it will be scrapped, came when I stood on the embankment of the canal that runs to the east of Schiphol Amsterdam airport in The Netherlands (EHAM) on 19 Marchg 2013. Trees were obstructing the view however, so I had to climb down, cross the road and take pictures over the fence (see link below). Logos and the name "Maria Callas" were removed. PH-KCG is the fourth of KLM's once ten strong fleet of passenger MD-11s that was phased out, following KCF, KCH and KCI. PH-KCG started its service life with KLM on 12 May 1995.
