Well, some smoke may be emitting from the wheels hitting the runway, but what you see is mainly water, stirred up by the engines and wheels of this landing Airbus, as the photo was taken in pouring rain. Fortunately, my camera survived - life of a Flightglobal/Airspace photographer is not without danger! The aircraft is Airbus A319-114 c/n 694 D-AILM of Lufthansa, landing on runway 27-09 of Schiphol Amsterdam airport in The Netherlands (EHAM) on 20 September 2012 after carrying out flight LH990 from Frankfurt. The aircraft made its first flight on 19 June 1997 with test registration D-AVYR and went to Lufthansa on 10 July 1997. It was temporarily parked at Berlin-Schönefeld airport from April 2001 to March 2003 and then put back into service, named "Friedrichshafen".
