Spitfire RNLAF historic flight 18092010
Spitfire Mk. IX 3W-17 of the Royal Netherlands Air Force historic flight on September 18, 2010 in a roll during the airshow over Ede heath, the Netherlands, to commemorate both the Battle of Arnhem and the first motorflight of a Dutchman in the Netherlands, Jan Hilgers on July 29, 1910. This particular aircraft was built in 1943 and took part in the D-day operations. After the war it went to the RNLAF, for which it served in the former Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) and the Netherlands, until it was phased out in 1953.
