The aircraft was wearing the name "Maria Callas" for almost 18 years, but now the end is near for McDonnell Douglas MD-11P c/n 48561 (l/n 585) PH-KCG of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. It is seen here stripped from its logos and name in front of one of the KLM hangars at Schiphol Amsterdam airport (EHAM) in The Netherlands on 19 March 2013. The aircraft will make its last flight to the scrapyard in the US. Only six MD-11Ps remain in the once ten strong KLM fleet. The remaining aircraft will have left the KLM fleet in October, with PH-KCK being the last to go. PH-KCG started its service life with KLM on 12 May 1995.
