The Portuguese government has decided not to accept the € 1.5 billion offer by investor Germán Efromovich, already owner of Avianca Colombia, to buy the Portuguese airline TAP. Privatization of TAP is one of the conditions of the European Commission for a € 78 billion loan to the Portuguese government. One of the reasons not to accept the bid is that only € 35 million will go to the Portuguese state, while the rest is needed to lower the debt of TAP. Earlier, IAG Group (British Airways and Iberia) and Alitalia withdrew their offer.
