View of the forward fuselage of Fokker 50-120 c/n 20253 with tailnumber U-05 and name "Fons Aler" of the Royal Netherlands Air Force at Lelystad airport in The Netherlands (EHLE) on 7 October 2012. The aircraft made its very last flight in the colors of the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) from its homebase Eindhoven airport (EHEH) on 5 September 2012. The aircraft was delivered to the Dutch air force on 1st December 1996 and, as we now know, was the very last Fokker to enter service of the RNLAF. The flight to Lelystad meant the end of 96 years of almost continuous service of Fokker aircraft with the Dutch armed forces, with the exception of 10 years during and right after WWII. The aircraft will receive the livery of its new, as yet undisclosed, owner by well-known aircraft painter QAPS (Quality Aircraft Painting Services) at Lelystad airport.
