It will be an ever rarer sight over Europe: the three condensation trails of a DC-10 / MD-11. According to the Flightglobal World Airliner Census 2013 none of the 69 DC-10s that still fly worldwide are operated by European airlines. Of the 165 MD-11s still existing only 35 are operated by European airlines, of which only 5 as passenger aircraft with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
This image shows McDonnell Douglas MD-11F c/n 485112 (l/n 529) OH-LGC of Nordic Global Airlines flying at 37000 ft with a speed of 458 kts, operating flight NGB8731 from Helsinki to Mumbai on 8 July 2013. Nordic Global Airlines was founded by Finnair in 2011. The airline operates four MD-11 freighters, of which two were obtained froim Finnair and two from EVA airlines.
