Time is running out for the MD-11 as a passenger aircraft on scheduled services. KLM Royal Dutch airlines is phasing out its last MD-11s, although the process is slowed as there is still no sign of the Boeing 787s the airline ordered. Last week five MD-11s (PH-KCA/B/D/E/K) were still active on routes to Canada (Toronto and Montreal), with PH-KCE even operating a (farewell?) flight to London Heathrow.
This image shows McDonnell Douglas MD-11P c/n 48555 (l/n 557) PH-KCA "Amy Johnson" on its way from the hangar to the gate at Schiphol Amsterdam airport in The Netherlands (EHAM) to operate flight KL671 to Montreal on 31 July 2013 .
