Two Alaska Airlines flights, one headed to Washington, D.C. (B-737-900) and the other ( Dash8-Q400) bound for Portland, took off from Sea-Tac Airport on November 9, 2011, each with a load of biofuel powering their jet engines. The first of 75 commercial flights over the next few weeks to be powered by a 20-percent blend of biofuel.
