Air Canada Express is here
Air Canada is set to rebrand its entire regional fleet under a new moniker, “Air Canada express,” putting an end to its Jazz brand and opening the door to additional regional partnerships.
The move comes just days before Air Canada is set to launch its new service from Toronto Island on Sunday May 1, 2011 using a small fleet of Bombardier Q400s operated by Sky Regional Airlines Inc.
Flights will be operated with Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400) (ex Lynx Aviation) turboprop aircraft. Air Canada will operate the five aircraft on the Toronto City Airport-Montreal route.
Following a competitive bid process to select a Canadian regional operator for these aircraft, Air Canada concluded a capacity purchase agreement with Sky Regional Airlines Inc., an associated company of Skyservice Business Aviation. The regional carrier will sublease and operate the Q400 aircraft on behalf of Air Canada as Air Canada Express.
