A KC-10 Extender flies over Afghanistan. Using either an advanced aerial refueling boom, or a hose and drogue centerline refueling system, the KC-10 can refuel a wide variety of U.S. and allied military aircraft within the same mission.

Air Force and coalition tankers flew 43 sortiesduring Operation Enduring Freedom  and off-loaded approximately 3.3 million pounds of fuel to 254 receiving aircraft.
