The last Delta DC-9 flight in the US
Delta Airlines flew their last DC-9 flight in the US on January 6, 2014. That means the end of the US DC-9 era for Delta passengers.
The DC-9's will all join their sisters in the desert waiting for the re-cycling man to come, as this SAS MD-87/DC-9 is doing in Kingman AZ.
American Airlines has about 162 MD-80 in their fleet To be phased out by 2018 and replaced by A320 family, A320neo family and 737NG. With the merger things could change and we might see earlier retirement than scheduled.
