YAK 50 at Airshow Aerodrome de Cambrai, Nierges, France

Created to replace the Yak-18PS, this winner of the 1976 World championship is one of the hottest Soviet-made «warbirds». The series production at the Arseniev plant stopped in 1985 after 312 aircraft built of which about 50 are still flying, mainly in private hands. Unbeatable at the airshows, this Yak is capable of advanced aerobatics provided all structural modifications have been made. Yak-50 entered aviation history books thanks to the 1977 speed record of 319,57 km/h.

The Aerostars remain the largest civilian team in the UK and the 6 aircraft aerobatics are not matched by any other team in the UK or most probably the World! The display will also feature aerobatics by smaller elements of the team. Complex vertical aerobatics, opposition passes and figures, and gyroscopic manoeuvres will be flown by 3 and 2 aircraft formations. In addition, our soloist will demonstrate the power, grace and vertical abilities of the Yak 50.
