McDonnell Douglas MD-11P c/n 48564 (line number 612) PH-KCK "Ingrid Bergman" of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines on short final in rainy weather to Schiphol Amsterdam's runway 27-09 in The Netherlands (EHAM) on 20 September 2012. The aircraft is one of only 12 MD-11s still in active passenger service worldwide on the day this image was posted to Flightglobal/AirSpace. Eight are still in the KLM fleet and four are operated by World Airways. But this number will be reduced soon as KLM has started phasing out the type. PH-KCK is scheduled to be the last MD-11 to leave KLM service, but the exact date depends on the availibility of replacement aircraft as delivery of the Boeing 787s KLM has ordered is delayed. PH-KCK is now supposed to leave KLM service at the end of 2013. The aircraft made its first flight in 1997 and entered the Dutch register in KLM service on 20 May 1997.
