October 3, 1963 - Artist's drawing shows major sections and key dimensions of Air Force TITAN II-GEMINI Launch Vehicle and the GEMINI spacecraft. Martin Company isn building the booster under an Air Force Space Systems Division contract for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Project GEMINI. The equipment bay illustrated is specially significant to the launch vehicle because it holds equipment vital to man-rating the basic TITAN II ICBM for a manned space mission. The malfunction detection system, added instrumentation and telemetry, and radio guidance system installed in the Stage II equipment bay are major modifications necessary for Project GEMINI.
