(Date and year unknown) - The free world's first intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the ATLAS, is now emerging from an intensive research and development program. In flight tests, the missile has already successfully flown over the full 5,500 nautical mile range, and one ATLAS was successfully guided into orbit last December by the Air Force Ballistic Missile Division as part of the Advanced Research Projects Agency's PROJECT SCORE.
