Ray Parer with his entry in the 1934 MacRobertson Air Race, Fairey Fox I, G-ACXO. In 1920, Ray Parer had competed in the race to be the first to fly from England to Australia. Although he came second to Captain Smith and his crew in a Vickers Vimy, his Airco DH.9 was only other aircraft to complete the flight and the first single-engined machine to complete the route
