The ill fated de Havilland DH.106 Comet I, G-ALYP at Hatfield, January 1951. This was the first Comet to go into BOAC service but was tragically lost on 10th January 1954 on a flight from Rome over the Mediterranean, off Elba. A cabin window blew out causing massive decompression and structural failure with the loss of all passengers and crew.
