Santos Dumont, a Brazilian, did much to further aviation in France in the early 1900s. Here is an example of his aircraft, the Demoiselle, on show in the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace, Le Bourget. Many early aviators flew this unusually configured aircraft, and one such example of a Demoiselle can be seen about to be flown by Edmond Audemars from Switzerland, sitting under his high-wing, wire-braced Demoiselle monoplane.
