It is our first simulator and will always have a special place in the Museum.
When we get FFS and CPT they will all dwarf this one, but it will always be the
first in our collection.

The first task was to paint it and make it ready
for the Boundary Bay Airport Air Show on July 27th, 2013. It was decided to
paint the aluminum part (on one side) as well.

We are installing a door in the nose (there was a cover plate with 28 screws)
and we wanted easy access to the computer that is going to run the FS program
etc. The opening was widened so we can get in with both arms and plug in cables,
switch the computer on/off.

The finished simulator will have a Royal
Canadian Air Force decal on one side and the Museum logo on the other.

McDonnell Douglas MD-80 Simulator, the museum has an eye on this working simulator but need to raise some more funds.

The McDonnell Douglas MD-80 is a family of twin-engine, short- to medium-range, single-aisle commercial jet airliners. The MD-80 series were lengthened and updated from the DC-9. The airliner family can seat from 130 up to 172 passengers depending on variant and seating configuration.

The term Link Trainer, also known as the "Blue box" and "Pilot Trainer" is commonly used to refer to a series of flight simulators produced between the early 1930s and early 1950s by the Link Aviation Devices, Inc, founded and headed by Ed Link, based on technology he pioneered in 1929 at his family's business in Binghamton, New York. These simulators became famous during World War II, when they were used as a key pilot training aid by almost every combatant nation.

The original Link Trainer was created in 1929 out of the need for a safe way to teach new pilots how to fly by instruments. A former organ and nickelodeon builder, Link used his knowledge of pumps, valves and bellows to create a flight simulator that responded to the pilot's controls and gave an accurate reading on the included instruments. More than 500,000 US pilots were trained on Link simulators, as were pilots of nations as diverse as Australia, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, Israel, Japan, Pakistan and the USSR.

A nice simulator that the museum plans to use for showing schools and other groups how it feels to fly. It might not be the actual simulator, we will most likely build something ourselves.
