The Douglas DC-3 Dakota is an emotive aircraft for the Swedish air force. One of its aircraft was shot down by a Soviet MiG-15 fighter in June 1952 while conducting an intelligence-gathering flight, killing its crew. A Swedish Catalina amphibian was also shot down while searching for the missing aircraft, but its crew survived and were later rescued.
