The Royal Australian Air Force is to induct its first two upgraded Lockheed AP-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft into service on 31 October, more than three years behind schedule. The upgrade, performed by Raytheon, has seen extensive software integration problems and costs have risen to A$880 million ($427.5 million) with the original January 1995 contract valued at A$747.5 million.
