Braxil's light strike fighters to get Rafael targeting pods

Upgraded Brazilian air force Alenia/Aermacchi/Embraer AMX light strike fighters will be equipped with the Rafael Litening targeting pods and Reccelite reconnaissance system.

Rafael will supply 10 Reccelite pods and six Litenings, having beaten off Elbit Systems and Thales to win the deal. Elbit has supplied Brazilian air force AMX avionics and a modernisation programme using systems similar to those in the same company's upgrade of Brazil's Northrop F-5 fighters, has also been discussed.

Haifa-based Rafael's contract is valued at around $50 million and includes three Reccelite ground exploitation stations.
