Israeli upgrade

The Israeli air force is to expand the operational capabilities of its Sikorsky CH-53 Yasur transport helicopters under two recently announced initiatives. Under the first effort, which forms part of Israel's Yasur 2025 upgrade, the aircraft will be equipped with El-Op's laser obstacle ranging and display system, enabling CH-53 pilots to fly safely at low level at night and in adverse weather conditions. A second development has led to the air force receiving approval to use the CH-53's inflatable rubber internal fuel tanks during inflight refueling, increasing the type's altitude and range performance.
