Accident An investigation has begun in New Zealand into the 3 May fatal crash of a Fairchild Metro III on a mail freight flight. New Zealand's Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) says the aircraft, operated by Airpost, was on a scheduled freight flight from Auckland on North Island to Blenheim on South Island. It disappeared from radar near Stratford on the western part of North Island at around 23:15. Wreckage was later located around 6km (3nm) east of the town, says TAIC, and was reportedly spread over several kilometres, suggesting an in-flight break-up. The two pilots were killed in the crash.
