Indonesia’s fast-growing Adam Skyconnection Airlines (Adam Air) is leaning towards the Airbus A320 in its assessment of new narrowbody aircraft, but is not ruling out the Boeing 737, writes Nicholas Ionides.

The airline operates an all-737 Classic fleet, and vice-president Dave Laksono says that Adam Air hopes to take a decision on an order for 10 new narrowbodies within a year. It has been assessing Airbus and Boeing proposals and Laksono says Airbus is ahead with its A320-family aircraft at this stage.

“We haven’t ruled out yet the Boeing 737, but Airbus seems to be much more lenient in giving us things like support,” he says. Laksono says the carrier expects to start taking delivery of new aircraft early in 2008. He expects firm orders to be placed initially for 10 aircraft, while options will be secured to allow for growth.
