GA shipments increase 40%

Shipments of general aviation aircraft soared almost 40% in the second quarter, to 1,548 units compared with 1,121 a year earlier, according to General Aviation Manufacturers Association figures. Piston deliveries rose 40% to 1,082 aircraft, with significant increases in output at Cirrus, Columbia, Diamond and Mooney. Jet shipments increased 36.6% to 325 aircraft, with Bombardier, Cessna and Raytheon making the most progress. Turboprop deliveries rose 28.2% to 141 aircraft on higher shipments of Beechcraft King Airs and Pilatus PC-12s.
