Flight International online news 08:30GMT: US freight operator FedEx has ordered six further Airbus A300-600 freighters and taken options on more of the type.
The European manufacturer says FedEx will take delivery of the newly-ordered A300s in 2007. FedEx already operates 47 A300-600s. Alongside the six aircraft on firm order, it has taken an unspecified number of options on the type.
The carrier has not announced its engine selection for the new aircraft. The majority of its existing A300-600 freighters are powered with General Electric CF6 engines, but ten feature Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines.
FedEx operates 54 Airbus A310 freighters among its 350-strong fleet and is also a launch customer for the Airbus A380 freighter.
