Austrian Airlines has repainted one of its Airbus A340-300 jets in a celebration of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Austria Mint (pictured above).
The new aircraft (OE-LAL) was officially unveiled at a ceremony last night at Austrian Airlines' facilities in Vienna airport by the country's education, culture and science minister Elisabeth Gehrer. The Austrian Cardinal Archbishop Dr Christoph Schönborn blessed the jet.
The new design depicts a Vienna F-horn, as played exclusively by the Vienna Philharmonic as well a gold coins to represent the mint.
The airline says it took around 520h for Austrian Technik to redesign the jet at the beginning of this month. The paintwork consists of special foils able to withstand the fluctuations in temperature; pressure during flight; and de-icing fluids.
