Embraer misses 2005 delivery target

Embraer delivered 141 aircraft in 2005, missing its target of 145.

The regional jet manufacturer says in a statement that it delivered 40 aircraft in the fourth quarter of the year, including six ERJ-145s, 11 E-170s, five E-175s and 10 E-190s to airline customers, as well as six Legacy aircraft to the business jet market and two Legacy aircraft to the defence market.

For the full year it delivered 120 aircraft to airline customers, 14 to the business jet market and seven to the defence market. The full-year delivery figure of 141 compares with deliveries of 148 aircraft in 2004.

Embraer had expected to deliver 145 aircraft in 2005 but says it missed its target as two E-190s that were due to have been delivered last month were only delivered this month while two E-170s sold to the defence segment for a state-run airline had their deliveries rescheduled to this year.

“Embraer expects to deliver 145 airline, business and defence aircraft (including only aircraft for authority transportation) in 2006 and maintains its forecast to deliver 150 aircraft in 2007,” it says.

Its firm order backlog amounted to 367 aircraft as of the end of December valued at $10.4 billion.
