Eclipse Aviation, manufacturer of the the Eclipse 500 very light jet has won the US National Aeronautic Association (NAA) 2005 Collier Trophy.
The prestigiuos award for aeronautical achievement has been presented by the NAA since 1911. The NAA says the Eclipse 500 “exemplified the spirit of entrepreneurship, technical innovation, and the impact on US aviation.” NAA adds: “Eclipse is applying innovations created in the technology industry to drive down cost, increase performance, improve safety, and spur a new type of air travel— air taxi”.
Other recent winners of the trophy include the SpaceShipOne team (2004) and the Gulfstream 550 team (2003).
