Swedish company Volvo Aero is to produce more parts for the world’s largest aircraft engine, the General Electric GE90-115B, used on the Boeing 777-200LR and 777-300ER. Under this new agreement with GE, Volvo Aero will start to make the new components in 2006, with an estimated total order value of €213 million ($255 million) over the next 10 years.

The parts are fan hub frames and turbine rear frames, both of which have synergies with the corresponding components that will feature on GE’s future GEnx engine, for which Volvo Aero has development responsibility; and low-pressure turbine cases.

Through Volvo Aero Norge, the Swedish company is already a programme partner and supplier of shafts for the GE90 engine.
