EADS co-chief executive Noel Forgeard has dismissed the possibility that the Airbus A380’s wing would have to undergo another structural test following the rupture below its ultimate-load target during static tests last month. Speaking at the presentation of Airbus majority shareholder EADS’s annual results in Paris last week, Forgeard was adamant that “the static test of the wing will not be redone”. He added: “We have enough elements to prove that the wing is good. Maybe there will be minor local reinforcement somewhere, but it is absolutely not considered that it might be necessary to redo the test.”
